In 2012 I started Naturopathic Medical School in San Diego through Bastyr University. Come 2014, I relocated to Washington from California. Despite completing three years of rigorous schooling, in 2015 I made one of the most difficult and yet rewarding decisions and stepped away from my studies. I chose to listen to my intuition and pursue my true calling and pursued completing a masters in clinical mental health counseling degree. My clinical experience includes providing trauma informed care, CBT, ACT, DBT, psychoeducation, parent coaching, OCD treatment, and crisis intervention in both a community mental health agency and children’s hospital in Seattle. I provide therapy and coaching to preteens, adolescents, adults and families.
The approaches I use largely derive from cognitive behavioral, emotionally focused individual therapy, and a humanistic/existential format – pinpointing where the client is at, promoting an understanding of their subjective experience while also honoring their past experiences. For some, recognizing and bringing awareness on how their past experiences influence their present lives cultivates healing- one goal being maximizing an individual’s potential to enrich their lives according to their core values. The therapeutic modalities I include in my work are CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), CPRT (Child-Parent Relational Therapy), EFIT (Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy), ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) with a culturally appropriate framework, congruent with clients’ level of acculturation. An area of focus I have affinity for are individuals who have family members experiencing chronic and/or intermittent mental health challenges. Please remember you are not alone and support is available. I collaborate with clients and bridge person centered awareness, empowerment, while mutually (between client and clinician) identify needs, wants and desires in an effort to propel change. Areas of focus include loss aversion, negative self talk, avoidant behavior and trauma processing.
What Our Clients Says
I was diagnosed with crohns, ankylosing spondylitis, arthritis, Leaky gut, and a couple of other things along the way. But ultimately no doctor could really say what I had or provide relief. I visited Dr Kimiai after a 12 year health care journey with little hope, but visited Her at the urging of my father who had so much confidence in her practice. After one very thorough visit with her she diagnosed my situation, gave me a regiment of supplements and a prescription, and within 6 weeks my symptoms were completely gone. It’s been 7 months now and I am still in awe. I haven’t felt this good in 12+ years. I can’t recommend her and her team enough.”
